I spent the whole day with Pianoteq 5 yesterday. I tested pianoteq 3 once, and didn't like it at all. This thread and the one at kvraudio made me curious. In 4.5 I modelled some presets just to make them brighter - but now I'm truly happy. I have tried PT5 now and am glad that they sound somewhat brighter than in the versions before.

It is amazing how full and 'round' the sound of even the 4.5 version is. Maybe the lid was closed on this preset and the mic set too far. Just too bad they used a Bluthner and not a D4 or something more bright. True Pianos sounds most synthetic of the four.
Now getting back to the topic, thanx Vincent for the link. (although I see that Bubbamc's does NOT appear to work, so YMMV)Īside from not producing the actual sound of a real piano for any level or any key.ĭo you think you could recognize in a blind test every note from Pianoteq at any level ?įor a starter, could you recognize Pianoteq 4 Bluthner with 100% confidence in this video by ears only ? MacMacMac's Presonus device also works, so either that one, or another one by Presonus might be worth considering. It's an M-Audio device, though, so maybe you could try a cheap/simple M-Audio device. I have not attempted to do this.Īs I said earlier, my USB audio interface does work, but it's much more expensive than what you need, and also out of production. Reaper does come with some special "audio routing" drivers, though, which MIGHT somehow allow you to route YouTube into Reaper, with Reaper then mixing that audio with Pianoteq.

(buy an audio interface that allows ASIO and Windows to work simultaneously, or use two audio interfaces and connect them both to a small mixer etc) If you think you will often be playing at the same time as YouTube, it won't be good enough, and you then have to consider the other solutions that have already been recommended. If this is just a temporary thing, so you can watch the Pianoteq tutorial while you play Pianoteq, and you don't mind some delay in the sound (delay from when you play a key to when the sound comes out), then I think Kawai James suggestion to simply configure Pianoteq to use the standard Windows driver, rather than ASIO, is the simplest solution. Jaymes677: I think you are probably wasting your time with Reaper - I've tried it (using the ASIO4ALL driver), and it does not solve your problem - I cannot play YouTube clips at the same time as I use Reaper.
